Neishtadt - Improve you chess tactics Upgraded 2024 edition
Instruction + exercises according to the old Soviet chess school Experienced Russian Grandmaster Yakov Neishtadt reveals the training material that was used in Soviet times to build up young masters. In the first part of the book Neishstadt teaches a systematic course on the most important tactical themes. The second part consist of an exam with hundreds of tests from real-life chess, in random order so as not to give unwelcome hints on how to solve them. The solutions are not just lists of moves, but include instructive prose. This edtion has been checked with modern engines.

Lakdawala - Irrational Chess
The vast majority of chess games witness familiar strategies and well known tactical motifs. These are the games that you will find in the anthologies and opening repertoires. Sometimes however, games appear that seem to have been played on a different planet.
Conventional strategies go out of the window. Familiar tactical themes are nowhere to be seen. Chaos has broken out. The pieces appear to be in open rebellion and are steadfastly refusing to do the natural jobs that they were designed for.
Having to navigate a path in such a game can be a nightmare. Do you rely purely on calculation? Is it better to trust your instincts? Can you assess the position using “normal” criteria?
In order to answer these questions, prolific chess author and coach Cyrus Lakdawala has assembled a collection of brilliantly unconventional and irrational games. The positions in these games appear almost random. Kings have gone walkabout, pieces are on bizarre squares, huge pawn rollers are sweeping all before them.
Irrational chess is like nothing you’ve seen before. As well as being highly instructive this is a hugely entertaining book.
Do not adjust your set. It’s chess, Jim, but not as we know it.

Horwitz/Kling - Chess studies and endgames
OUT OF STOCK
In 1851, Horwitz & Kling published the first edition of the book. The collection of endgame studies was truly monumental, covering endgames of all types, often uncovering previously unknown truths about a variety of endgames, both simple and more complex ones.
After the passing of his colleague Kling, Horwitz started preparing a manuscript for a new, expanded edition. However, in 1885, he passed as well, and it was only through the effort of William Wayte that the second edition was published in 1889.
In this new edition, all of their compositions and analysis have been thoroughly reanalyzed by FIDE Master Carsten Hansen. 182 pages
Pavlovic - Unknown weapons in the Grünfeld
In my first book I wanted to enlighten the reader on those various lines that were
less explored, and those that have been almost forgotten but were nevertheless
interesting.
However this time the book is about cutting-edge lines, which is a very
modern approach to this fascinating opening. Moreover it is important to say that
when I was writing my first book a few years ago, surprisingly, some of these current
lines simply didn’t exist, or were only discussed in a very minor way.
It is true that the Grünfeld fits in very well with the engines’ way of playing chess,
and in that sense it’s almost the perfect opening with which to implement and generate
such ideas.
Let’s have a look now at what I mean and start reading my findings!
GM Milos Pavlovic, January 2024.
Identik
